Basics: Consistent Units
Background Finite-Elemente-Programs require the usage of consistent unit systems. In structural mechanics the SI-Systems and the mm-t-s (Millimeter-Ton-Second) system have proved their worth.
What does consistent mean? Derived units can be expressed in terms of fundamental units without conversion factors: 1 Force Unit = 1Mass-Unit * 1 Acceleration-Unit 1 Acceleration-Unit = 1 Length-Unit / (1 Time-Unit) 2 1 Density-Unit = 1Mass-Unit / (1 Length-Unit) 3
